Duties Community Integration:
Support the individual in participating in community activities, recreational opportunities, social events, and other activities that promote community involvement.
Independent Living Skills:
Teach and practice everyday skills such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, household organization, cleaning, scheduling, and completing daily responsibilities.
Social & Communication Skills:
Help develop appropriate communication, social interaction, relationship-building, and self-advocacy skills.
Transportation & Community Navigation:
Assist with learning how to safely navigate the community, use transportation options, plan routes, and access community resources.
Decision-Making & Problem-Solving:
Encourage the individual to make choices, solve everyday problems, communicate preferences, and become more confident making decisions independently.
Building Independence:
Provide coaching, demonstration, and prompting while gradually reducing assistance as the individual develops the ability to complete tasks independently.
Safety & Documentation:
Promote personal and community safety, follow the individual's support plan, document services and progress, and report concerns or significant changes to the appropriate supervisor.
Preferred Prior Experience & Requirements DSP or Caregiving Experience:
Previous experience as a Direct Support Professional, caregiver, IHS worker, or in a similar support role.
Community-Based Support:
Experience helping individuals participate in community activities, recreation, social events, and other opportunities that promote community involvement.
Independent Living Skills:
Experience teaching or supporting skills such as cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, organization, and maintaining daily routines.
Social Skills Development:
Experience helping individuals strengthen communication, social interaction, relationship-building, and self-advocacy skills.
Skill-Building & Coaching:
Experience teaching new skills through demonstration, encouragement, prompting, and gradually reducing assistance to promote independence. Working with

Required:
