Full Job Description Responsibilities Personal Care & Nutrition:

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support Ensure they are safely shaved at least once per week. Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding as necessary Maintain a clean and safe environment through housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance client well-being and promote mental health

Cognitive Support & Companionship:

Provide gentle companionship, engage in meaningful conversation, or encourage simple cognitive activities during downtime. Utilize positive redirection techniques if the individual becomes confused, anxious, or repetitive due to dementia. Light Housekeeping & Maintenance (Weekly): Bring dirty clothes and linens to the laundry room. Complete a full wash and dry cycle at least twice weekly. Change the bedding 2-3 times per week (typically at the beginning, middle, and end of the week). Wash any dishes used for breakfast or left in the sink daily. Wipe down countertops with provided cleaning supplies and organize loose household items to keep the kitchen neat. Prepare the basement, main level, and upstairs for vacuuming by clearing items off floors (living room and walkways) and arranging the dining table and chairs for easy access. Clear the vacuum head of hair/debris when necessary, vacuum all levels, and mop hard floors using provided cleaning supplies. Clean the shower and toilets using provided brushes and supplies. Wipe down counters, clean mirrors, empty trash cans into the outside container, and replace liners. Swap out used towels for clean ones once weekly. Wash the basement and main level windows using the provided paper towels and window cleaner spray.

Communication, Safety, & Supplies:

Monitor household stock. If window cleaning supplies, trash bags, or fresh towels are running low, leave a note or notify the homeowners directly. Maintain a brief daily written or verbal log for the family (e.g., mood, appetite, bathroom success, or any changes in behavior). Follow established emergency procedures and contact the homeowners immediately in the event of an accident or sudden health change.

Qualifications:

Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer's care is highly preferred Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and document changes accurately for care plans Experience with assisted living or nursing home environments is advantageous Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred but not necessary; additional training in hospice care or home health is a plus Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration Ability to work independently while following detailed care plans within a home or community setting
