Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence. Your commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those you serve is crucial in creating a positive environment within our group home or community-based settings. Responsibilities Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide patient care and support in accordance with individualized care plans. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in the health status of residents. Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks. Assist with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Support individuals with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care strategies. Foster a respectful and supportive atmosphere while working collaboratively with team members. Requirements Previous experience in caregiving, home health, assisted living, or nursing home settings is preferred. Familiarity with working with people who have developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs is highly desirable. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; training may be provided if not currently certified. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes in condition. Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed to assist residents. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. A background in social work or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
