Under the supervision of the Adult Day Center Director, the Program Assistant is responsible for carrying out a successful program, assisting with the personal care of our clients, activities, active games, group discussion, recording certain client and program information. This is a part-time opportunity. We are looking for a candidate to join the team Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday totaling about 25 hours. Duties and Responsibilities Carry out planned program activities as directed such as leading an exercise and discussion group. Sign in/out clients, record items brought and the clothing descriptions. Assist in orientation of new clients. Assist with personal care activities of clients (coats, transferring, ambulation, eating, hand washing, etc.) to meet the individual needs. Daily, review communication book for ongoing changes in the program or the clients Participate in set up/clean up of lunches and snacks. Assist in monitoring kitchen and cleaning supplies. Attend staff meetings when possible. Qualifications One year of experience working with the elderly population preferred. Knowledgeable about physical, social, and mental health needs of the elderly population strongly desired. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with clients, paraprofessional staff, and volunteers. Ability to be flexible with schedule changes. Physical Demands and Work Environment Frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to sit. Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
