Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through personalized support, patient observation, and effective communication. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor residents' health status by observing vital signs, patient monitoring, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals. Administer medications accurately following care plans and adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality. Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while maintaining a clean and safe environment. Utilize patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and proper manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance. Engage residents in meaningful activities tailored to their interests, including memory care, dementia care, or autism support. Maintain documentation of care provided, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with team members and family members. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification, and infection control standards. Skills Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Experience in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, or hospice care is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while assisting with transfers using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Skilled in assisting with ADLs and providing compassionate caregiving for individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Knowledge of care plans development and implementation tailored to individual needs.
