Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional/Care Giver to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and aging-related conditions. This vital role involves assisting residents with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in caregiving, with experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term residential settings. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve while working within a supportive team committed to quality care. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability. Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities accurately. Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met with compassion and patience. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for residents with dementia or cognitive disabilities. Operate manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to assist with resident transfers and mobility. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to sanitation standards. Communicate effectively with residents' families and healthcare teams to provide updates on well-being and progress. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly desirable. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and geriatrics best practices. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; ongoing training in safe patient lifting practices is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting residents with mobility or transfers. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is essential. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents of all ages. Familiarity with medication administration protocols and documentation procedures. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
