Job Description

About the Position We are seeking a caring, patient, and reliable Support Staff Member / Independence Coach / Peer Support Professional to work with an adult woman in her 40s as she transitions into a new apartment and works toward increasing her independence. This position is ideal for someone with a background in mental health, direct support, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, or a related field who enjoys helping others build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections within their community. The right candidate will provide encouragement and hands-on support while allowing the individual to take the lead and develop skills at her own pace. Responsibilities Supporting the individual as she adjusts to living independently in her new apartment Assisting with developing and practicing independent living skills Providing support with laundry and household routines Accompanying the individual grocery shopping and helping her build confidence with shopping independently Teaching and supporting simple meal planning and preparation Helping with organization and establishing routines within the apartment Supporting the individual in exploring the White Plains community Assisting with attending activities, events, and other opportunities of interest Encouraging the development of social connections and friendships Providing transportation and/or support with community outings as needed Helping the individual build confidence while gradually increasing her independence Qualifications Experience working in the mental health field is strongly preferred Patient, compassionate, dependable, and encouraging Comfortable working independently and helping someone build skills without taking over Strong communication and interpersonal skills Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record Reliable transportation preferred Schedule Days and hours are somewhat flexible based on the needs of the individual and the right candidate. However, we are ideally looking for someone who is available:

Saturdays:

10:00am

•1:00pm Additional or adjusted hours may be available in the future

Location:
White Plains, NY Pay:

$30

•$33 per hour, based on experience
