Position Summary We are hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide Homemaker Personal Care (HPC) services to an individual with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) . This client is able to walk but primarily uses a scooter and a motorized scooter for off-road activities. He is funny, outgoing, and enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and walking his dogs . The DSP will provide support with daily living needs, household tasks, community outings, and companionship . The client also works and attends aquatic therapy, where support is required. He has two dogs, so the DSP must be comfortable with pets. The caregiver will ride with the client in his accessible vehicle during outings. Client-Centered Preference The individual receiving services has expressed a preference for a Male DSP who shares an interest in outdoor activities and is comfortable with dogs. Responsibilities Provide direct support with
ADLs :
light personal care, grooming, and hygiene as needed. Assist with cleaning, grocery shopping, and household tasks . Accompany client to aquatic therapy sessions and community outings. Support hobbies including fishing, power soccer, and outdoor exploration . Assist with dog walking and pet care . Ride along in the client's accessible vehicle during appointments, errands, and recreational activities. Encourage independence, companionship, and dignity in daily life. Document daily activities, behaviors, and observations accurately. Follow Safe Haven policies and all state/DODD requirements. Requirements Must be 18 years or older . High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Eligible to work in the U.S. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and provide safe assistance. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Completion of Safe Haven's orientation, CPR/First Aid, and DODD 8-hour DSP training. Skills & Attributes Compassionate, patient, and dependable. Comfortable supporting individuals with mobility challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Reliable and detail-oriented.
