A Home Health Aide helps individuals who are disabled, elderly, or chronically ill with daily tasks, such as dressing, washing, and light housekeeping. They can care for patients in their homes or other healthcare settings, and may perform basic medical care under the direction of a nurse or other medical professional. These roles typically require more comprehensive agency-approved training programs.
Direct Support Professional (DSP) - 7 Days On / 7 Days Off Work seven days—then enjoy seven consecutive days completely off. McElvain Homes is seeking dependable Direct Support Professionals for a 7-on/7-off schedule in the Mansfield and Madison Township area. This is a full-time, primarily one-home assignment supporting up to four individuals with developmental disabilities. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who prefers a consistent schedule, meaningful work, and large blocks of uninterrupted time off. Starting Pay and Schedule $17-$20 per hour, based on experience Overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate Approximately 40 paid hours per weekly pay period Opportunities to work up to approximately 50 hours when approved appointments, outings, medical needs, or other circumstances require additional coverage Premium holiday pay Seven consecutive days completely off after every working rotation How the Schedule Works The rotation begins at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday and ends the following Friday morning after the individuals leave for their day activities.
The normal Monday-Friday schedule is:
6:00-8:30 a.m.: Paid working hours 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.: Completely off duty 2:30-10:00 p.m.: Paid working hours 10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.: Unpaid sleep period in private sleeping quarters On Saturday and Sunday, employees work during the day because the individuals do not attend their weekday day programs. The normal unpaid sleep period remains 10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. During the Monday-Friday daytime break, employees are completely relieved of duty and may leave the home, go home, run errands, attend appointments, or otherwise use the time however they choose. Employees must return and be ready to work by approximately 2:30 p.m. Employees sleep at the home each night in private sleeping quarters. If an employee is awakened and required to provide assistance during the overnight period—or must work beyond 10:00 p.m.—that time is clocked and paid. After completing the rotation Friday morning, employees have no scheduled work responsibilities until the following Friday afternoon. What You'll Do As a DSP, you will help the individuals we support live safe, active, and fulfilling lives in their own community home.

Who This Schedule Works Well For The 7-on/7-off structure is unusual, so applicants should consider it carefully. During the working rotation, employees must sleep at the assigned home every night and reliably return after each weekday daytime break. In exchange, employees receive seven consecutive days with no scheduled work obligations after every rotation—approximately half the year completely off. This position may be a particularly good fit for someone who values extended time off, enjoys building consistent relationships in one home, and wants work that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others. If you are dependable, compassionate, and interested in a schedule unlike the typical direct-care position, we encourage you to apply.
