The (DSP)plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary care and assistance to thrive within their communities. This position involves working closely with clients to promote independence, enhance daily living skills, and provide compassionate support in community settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care and experience working with diverse populations. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of individuals under care. Support clients in community integration activities, fostering social interactions and participation in community events. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties. Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members. Utilize appropriate techniques for lifting and transferring clients, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Document client progress and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information. Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance caregiving skills. Requirements Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, or similar environments is preferred. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques, vital sign assessment, and medication administration practices. Ability to work effectively with individuals who have developmental disabilities, including autism, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease. Strong communication skills to facilitate interactions with clients, families, and team members. Capacity for heavy lifting as required by client needs. A background in nursing or social work is advantageous but not mandatory. Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
