Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly ("PACE"). PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

Bienvivir is currently accepting applications for the following position:
HOME HEALTH PROVIDER
(PAS
ATTENDANT
) Responsible for providing Personal Assistance Services to participants in their place of residence; examples include, but are not limited to, assistance with removing and putting on clothing, bathing, eating, using the restroom, transferring, light housecleaning, and meal preparation. Personal Assistance Services do not include, performing medical procedures (e.g., administering shots) or medical monitoring (e.g., takes blood pressure). Follows established individualized service plans for participants under the instruction and supervision of the registered nurse. Assists family members in maximizing participant comfort through the provision of effective home health care and observes and reports any changes in the participant's status to the assigned supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assumes responsibility for providing effective personal assistance services. a. Strictly follows the individualized service plan for participants. b. Assists participants with ambulation. c. Assists participants with the performance of activities of daily living. d. Provides Standby Assistance to prevent injury during the performance of activities of daily living. e. Maintains a clean home environment for participants in their place of residence. f. Establishes and maintains an effective personal hygiene routine for participants. g. Prepares meals for participants in accordance with prescribed diet. h. Reminds participants to take medications as prescribed by Physician. i. Provides care to participants in comfort care. j. Redirects behavior in a respectful manner. k. Provides emotional support to participants. l. Keeps supervisor and management informed of any concerns. m. Reports any changes in the participants' status or condition to the supervisor. 2. Effectively follows company policy and procedures. a. Complies with Personal Attendant Services guidelines. b. Follows established infection control procedures. c. Respects and follows participant rights. d. Respects the participants' right to self-determination. e. Maintains participant confidentiality. f. Timely completes mandatory in-service and compliance training. g. Maintains certifications (if required). 3. Assumes responsibility for knowledge and demonstration of proper safety techniques. a. Uses proper body mechanics. b. Maintains a safe home environment by reporting safety hazards or any barriers to safety to the supervisor. c. Follows safety practices when using equipment such as the Hoyer lift, walker, wheelchair, and gait belt. 4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, family members, staff members, supervisors, and management. a. Encourages participants to participate in their own caretaking with appropriate consideration given to the participants' mental or physical limitations. b. Provides suggestions to improve the effectiveness of service delivery. c. Cooperates with participants and family members to provide quality service. d. Resolves requests and problems or refers them appropriately to the supervisor. e. Follows special instructions from supervisor (if required). 5. Accountable for related duties as required or assigned. a. Assists with care of dental appliances, glasses, and assistive listening devices. b. Assists in training new hires (e.g., on-the-job training and or job shadowing). c. Reports any issues with durable medical equipment to the supervisor. d. Assists participants with emergencies by dialing 911. e. Accepts cases and assignments without bias. f. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age and demonstrate competency to perform the tasks assigned by the supervisor. Previous relevant experience in personal care or home health care, or in assisting frail, elderly people with performing activities of daily living. Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
1. Care of people who have mental or physical limitations or have a disability. 2. Geriatric population, the home environment, the aging process, and family dynamics. 3. Relationships between participants, family members, and home care providers.
Skills:
1. Understand and follow instructions from the supervisor. 2. Understand and communicate in English and Spanish (Preferred bilingual).
Abilities:
1. To demonstrate flexibility in changes to participants' schedules regarding activities of daily living such as bathing times or meal preparation times. 2. To discern a participant's mood and needs. 3. To plan, organize, and control the performance of tasks in the home environment. Required Experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Flexible to work seven (7) days a week (as assigned), including weekends and holidays. 2. Flexible to work overtime (if necessary). 3. Flexible to work in different home settings; examples include, but are not limited to, housesand apartments. 4. Required to complete training on use of Hoyer Lift within three (3) months of hire. 5. Required to complete at least 12 hours of mandatory in-service and compliance training annually.
