Personal Care Assistant

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Personal Care Assistant to join our dedicated caregiving team. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support to individuals with diverse needs, promoting their independence, safety, and well-being. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity. Monitor patients' health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately. Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Facilitate patient transfers using manual handling techniques or equipment such as Hoyer lifts, ensuring safety for both clients and staff. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols. Document care activities, patient observations, and communication with healthcare providers clearly and thoroughly. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning is essential. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, resident's rights, dementia care (including Alzheimer's and memory care), and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your effectiveness in this role. Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting, patient transfers using various methods, and assisting with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in hospice care or autism support are advantageous. Strong communication skills for client interaction and teamwork; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is a plus. Must be dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional personal care assistance.
