Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant / Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to individuals across various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and home care environments. In this vital role, you will support residents and patients with daily activities, administer medications safely, and promote their overall well-being. Responsibilities Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and hygiene. Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and document all medication administration in medical records or electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner. Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; report any abnormalities promptly. Support individuals with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, or those with developmental disabilities. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical documentation with care. Assist with tube feeding, catheter care, and other medical procedures under supervision or according to training protocols. Document all patient care activities thoroughly using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and ensure accuracy in medical records management. Requirements Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and nursing practices related to patient care. Certification as a Medication Technician or similar credential is required; ongoing training in medication administration is essential. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes. Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing cognitive decline or disabilities; experience in Alzheimer's or dementia care is advantageous. Strong communication skills combined with a compassionate attitude towards clients' needs. Must adhere to all safety protocols including HIPAA compliance and infection control standards.
