Overview We are seeking a committed and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join our team. This vital role involves supporting individuals with diverse needs in various care settings, including home, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related conditions such as dementia and geriatrics. Duties Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly. Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Facilitate patient transfer methods using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safety. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control standards. Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a respectful and caring relationship with clients. Requirements Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Familiarity with care plans, resident's rights, HIPAA compliance, and documentation procedures. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, or autism support is advantageous. Ability to perform manual handling tasks and heavy lifting safely while ensuring patient safety at all times. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within multidisciplinary settings. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is desirable.
