Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and become a vital part of empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other challenges to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this energetic role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support that promotes growth, safety, and community engagement. Whether assisting with daily activities or fostering social skills, your work will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while building rewarding relationships and gaining valuable experience in behavioral health, special education, and community care. Responsibilities Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and social interactions. Assist with communication needs using techniques like American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods. Support individuals in participating in community outings, recreational activities, and educational programs to foster independence and social integration. Collect data on progress and behavior patterns to inform care plans and report updates to supervisors. Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate medication administration records. Drive clients safely to appointments, activities, or community events while adhering to all safety regulations. Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support tailored to each individual's needs. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred. Background in special education or behavioral health enhances your ability to implement effective support strategies. Home and community care experience demonstrates your capacity for caregiving in diverse settings. Familiarity with assisting with ADLs and medication administration ensures safe and effective support delivery. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with clients, families, and team members effectively. Valid driving license and safe driving record are required for transportation duties. Experience using data collection tools or social work principles is advantageous for tracking progress and coordinating care plans.
