REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

1 year of experience in environmental laboratory analysis or related experience. Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field. Professional Licensures and/or

Certifications:

Valid driver's license

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position conducts sample preparation and assists in analysis of environmental water and wastewater samples. Receives samples and ensures sufficient quantities of supplies available to meet the needs of the laboratory. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Receive samples, review chain of custodies, label and store samples appropriately. Packs and ships samples to outside laboratories. Accurately input data from sample receiving, manage documents and data into the laboratory database. Order laboratory supplies including chemicals, laboratory equipment and general office supplies. Ensure sufficient inventory of laboratory bottles and associated supplies. Perform periodic review of laboratory Standard Operating Procedures. 5. Participate in annual audits. Perform routine laboratory tests including chlorine residual, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, alkalinity, temperature, pH and UV 254. Analyze and report data for microbiology tests. May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
