Sleep Technologist (Trainee) at DREAM SLEEP CENTER

Dream Sleep Center is expanding and we are looking for Sleep Tech Trainees to join our strong team of stakeholders. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and engaged; and is excited to jump into the world of Sleep Medicine. This is an excellent position for someone who wants to get into the medical field, as you will work alongside a registered Sleep Tech for 6 months of training to become a Registered Sleep Tech (Polysomnography Technologist). Sleep (Polysomnographic) Trainee Position Summary A sleep trainee develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions. The sleep trainee works under direct supervision of a sleep technician or a sleep technologist. Responsibilities Domains of Practice Sleep Study Preparation and Set-up Review the patient's history and verify the medical order. Follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study. When patients arrive, verify identification, collect documents and obtain consent for the study. Explain the procedure and orient the patient for either in center or out of center sleep testing. Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary. Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted publishing standards. Procedures Follow procedural protocols [such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data. Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make required adjustments. Follow "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.) Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct and document artifacts. Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Assist with appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.). Follow "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g. repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, and checks for completeness, etc.). Demonstrate proficiency in recognizing sleep vs. wake and identify clinical events while monitoring sleep study patients. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care and treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download. Perform patient education and instruction appropriate for out of center sleep testing. Demonstrate adherence to cleaning and disinfection procedures for portable monitoring devices. Demonstrate ability to identify artifact, inadequate signals and study failures in portable monitoring. Service Management and Professional Issues Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Assist with routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation. Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification. Demonstrate computer skills appropriate for the position. You will greet, converse with, educate and communicate with our customers and assist them during their experiences in our office. You will also help to make them feel comfortable and notice all the little things that nobody else would normally notice, that could possibly make an experience great, or not so great, for all of our customers. 6) Hosting and welcoming people

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the office, calling and arranging appointments, stocking and ordering supplies, coordinating appointments, keeping order in the office and in the patient records.

There are a lot of other things you'll do to help support patients and the other Stakeholders at Dream Sleep Center. We want you to proactively look around and see how you can make things better. 10) Learn what we do and make it your own

• We don't want you to just be in the room for appointments and greet people. You will set up the room and the atmosphere, but you will enjoy being there because you love helping people and you find the field fascinating. 11) Hours
• 40 hours+/week with opportunity for incentives based on performance. We trust and help each other to get things done. We are all adults and are responsible for our own work and getting things done. This will be a Tuesday-Thursday overnight schedule 8pm-6am. 12) Pay
• will be commensurate with the talents, initiative and motivation you bring to the position. Starting pay is around +
• $17-20/hour.

You will be an integral part of the Dream Sleep Center community and helping our business grow and expand, will attend our daily huddle, weekly one on ones and monthly team meetings for planning and strategy, and will be expected to chime right in as if you owned the place.
