A Sleep Laboratory Technician, also known as a polysomnographic technician, performs tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. Responsible for giving patients explanations of the impending sleep tests and procedures, preparing equipment for the procedures, recording activities and analyzing results - all while working under the advisement of a clinical director and/or sleep technologist.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Polysomnographic Technologist works collectively with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder testing and scoring. Performs comprehensive sleep testing / analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Leader, Medical Director, or designee. Provide supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
Education:
High School Diploma/ GED Must meet one of the following requirements. Successful completion of an accredited educational program with an associate's degree in an allied health field. Completion of six months experience as a sleep trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies. Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent. 6 months clinical experience working as an EEG Tech.
Licensure/Certification:
CPR-American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Proivders). Must obtain one of the following within 24 months of hire: Certification extensions may be granted up to an extra 12 months if approved by leadership and there is a business need to do so. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
  • (RPSGT), Registry in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT). The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Sleep Disorders Specialty
  • SDS.
Other skills/knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neuro-diagnostics).
Other skills/knowledge:
Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures.
