The Women's Health Group, P.A.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The MLTs at The Women's Health Group are a crucial part of our lab staff! At our office, MLTs perform routine daily testing, as well as batched weekly tests. Our test compendium includes testing for: STDs (Hepatitis B & C, HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia & Gonorrhea, Trichomonas), general health panels (TSH & T4, CBC, CMP, A1C), pregnancy (urine/serum Qualitative HCG and Quantitative HCG), specialty female hormone testing (LH, FSH, Progesterone, Prolactin, Estradiol), vaginitis (BV & Candida), UTI (UA dip & micro), glucose tolerance testing, and full obstetric panels (to include Type & Screen and Rubella). Our MLTs are also responsible for assisting our phlebotomists by checking patients in at the lab, finding and submitting lab orders via our EMR and LIS for in-house and send out testing, drawing patients, providing instructions to patients for clean catch urine specimens, processing pap smears and pathology specimens for send out testing, monitoring the lab schedule and checking for orders, and helping fulfill other duties to assist in the lab. Our open MLT position will be stationed at our Charles Pl office for full-time hours (38-40 hour/week). This person would be working the closing shift each day, so those hours would be M/Tu 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM and W/Th/Fri 9 AM - 6 PM. The lab will often only have a single MLT staffed, so I am looking for someone confident in his/her knowledge and abilities as well as someone capable of managing his/her own time wisely and functioning in an occasionally fast paced environment. I am also looking for a person with phlebotomy experience, as our MLT will be expected to draw patients in the absence of a phlebotomist. As we hold a high-complex CLIA certification, applicants should hold either an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, BS in Medical Laboratory Science, or BS in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Life Science (transcript required).
