About Us Sleep Services of Maryland is a growing multi-location sleep medicine practice dedicated to improving patients' lives through the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. We are currently seeking a dependable, patient-focused DME Technician to join our team and assist patients with CPAP and other sleep therapy equipment. Position Summary The DME Technician is responsible for educating patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of CPAP, BiPAP, and other durable medical equipment (DME). This individual will ensure patients receive the appropriate equipment, provide hands-on instruction, and support ongoing compliance with therapy. Responsibilities Perform CPAP/BiPAP equipment setups and patient education. Demonstrate proper mask fitting and troubleshoot mask leaks and comfort issues. Educate patients on equipment operation, cleaning, maintenance, and replacement schedules. Review physician orders and ensure the appropriate equipment and supplies are dispensed. Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (Practice Fusion). Monitor therapy compliance and follow up with patients as needed. Coordinate with providers, billing, and insurance companies regarding authorizations and documentation. Maintain accurate inventory of CPAP devices, masks, and supplies. Ensure all DME documentation complies with Medicare, commercial insurance, and company policies. Assist patients with equipment exchanges, warranty issues, and supply reorders. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional DME work area. Qualifications Previous DME, CPAP, respiratory, sleep medicine, or medical assistant experience preferred. Knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, and sleep therapy equipment is highly preferred but willing to train. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to educate patients in a clear, compassionate, and professional manner. Comfortable using electronic medical records and computer systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
