Lab Testing Technician WMC LLC is seeking a Lab Testing Technician to join our Laboratory Services department in the Plastics industry. In this role, you will perform physical and analytical testing on plastic materials, prepare and label samples, record and analyze test data, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. You will calibrate and maintain lab equipment, support test method development, and document results in reports for internal and client use. Perform routine and specialized testing on plastics materials, components, and products following established methods (e.g., ASTM, ISO). Prepare, label, and manage samples for testing, ensuring proper handling, storage, and traceability. Set up, operate, and verify laboratory test equipment for mechanical, physical, and thermal testing of plastics. Record test conditions, observations, and results accurately in logs, spreadsheets, and laboratory information systems (e.g., LIMS). Assist in analyzing test data, checking for inconsistencies, and preparing summaries, tables, and draft reports for review. Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety, quality, and calibration standards. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and quality control requirements at all times. Collaborate with laboratory and consulting team members to prioritize test workloads and support multiple client projects. Identify and report equipment malfunctions, unusual results, or safety concerns promptly to senior staff. Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, workflows, and documentation practices under guidance from senior personnel. Operation of laboratory testing equipment for plastics (tensile, impact, hardness, melt flow, etc.) Knowledge of plastics and polymer material properties Familiarity with ASTM and ISO test methods for plastics Sample preparation and handling techniques for materials testing Accurate data entry and use of spreadsheets for data management Use of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar databases Basic statistical analysis and interpretation of test results Strict adherence to laboratory safety practices and PPE requirements Understanding of quality control, calibration, and documentation standards Technical writing for test notes, data tables, and basic report contributions Time management and ability to handle multiple tests/projects concurrently Troubleshooting basic equipment and test setup issues Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Associate's or bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field Training or coursework in polymer science or plastics materials (preferred) Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) (preferred) OSHA or equivalent lab safety training (preferred)
