Job Title:
Lab TechnicianJob Description The Lab Technician will be responsible for maintaining plating baths and overseeing wastewater treatment operations onsite in the plant. This role involves walking the plant floor each morning with an iPad to record any variations or issues, and making necessary adjustments by adding chemicals. The technician will handle chemical baths, which require lifting bags weighing up to 55 lbs, and take water samples three times a day for lab testing, including pH, titrations, and color testing. Results must be recorded and entered into the system accurately. The technician will also change bag filters, clean the clarifier weekly, and perform maintenance on treatment equipment with full training provided. Responsibilities + Maintain plating baths and wastewater treatment operations. + Conduct morning plant floor inspections using an iPad to record issues. + Adjust chemical baths by adding necessary chemicals. + Lift and handle bags of chemicals up to 55 lbs. + Take and test water samples three times daily, including pH, titrations, and color testing. + Record and enter testing results into the system accurately. + Change bag filters and clean clarifiers weekly. + Perform weekly maintenance on treatment equipment. Essential Skills + Proficient in titrations, pH testing, and color testing. + Knowledge of acid and base chemicals. + Experience in a manufacturing environment. + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or equivalent experience. + Mechanically inclined and comfortable in a manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Chemistry preferred. + Familiarity with plating processes and wastewater treatment systems. + Previous lab experience outside of academic settings is a plus. Work Environment The Lab Technician will work in both a lab and wastewater treatment area within a plant that coats automotive parts with protective and semi-decorative coatings. The environment is not spotless, but equipped with modern analytical instruments for testing. The lab team is small and collaborative, consisting of one other technician and the Lab Manager. The company operates privately with a friendly, yet precise working atmosphere where accuracy and timely reporting are priorities. The role requires working Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with no travel required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
