Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description:
We are seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support plating operations and laboratory testing within a manufacturing environment in Warren, MI. This role is responsible for monitoring plating baths, performing chemical analysis, documenting test results, and helping ensure production processes remain within specification. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain plating bath chemistry to support production requirements. Conduct daily inspections of the production floor using an iPad to identify process variations or equipment concerns. Make chemical additions and process adjustments as needed to maintain specifications. Collect samples and perform laboratory testing, including: pH testing Titrations Color analysis Accurately record test results and enter data into company systems. Fill and replenish chemical baths, including handling chemical materials and lifting up to 55 pounds. Change filtration bags and assist with routine equipment upkeep. Perform basic preventative maintenance on process equipment (training provided). Communicate process issues, quality concerns, and out-of-specification conditions to management. Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline Ability to independently perform pH testing and titrations. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
Work Environment:
This position is based within a manufacturing facility that applies protective and decorative coatings to automotive components. The laboratory is located inside the plant and works closely with production operations. While the environment is industrial and hands-on, the lab is equipped with modern analytical instruments. The team values collaboration, accuracy, accountability, and meeting production timelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
