Lab Assistant II Details Essential Job Duties:
Adheres to all lab and medical group policies on confidentiality, dress code, and safety standards. Follows established protocols for test ordering, specimen handling, and proper documentation. Performs blood draws and obtains other specimen types, ensuring accurate labeling and patient comfort. Collects specimens for patients of all ages; evaluates them for acceptability based on appearance, volume, and labeling. Conducts waived and moderate-complexity tests following lab procedure manuals; reports results promptly and accurately. Alerts manager when unexpected or erroneous results occur, participating in proficiency testing and accreditation activities. Cleans, calibrates, and maintains instruments per manufacturer guidelines, logging activities as required. Troubleshoots basic equipment issues, escalating to vendors or supervisors when necessary. Accurately enters patient data into the LIS; processes specimens and maintains related logs and records. Monitors supply inventory and storage conditions, restocking items to avoid interruptions in service. Participates in team problem-solving, in-service training, and continuing education. Assists with onboarding and training of new hires, clinical staff, and students to ensure consistent lab operations.
Qualifications:
Veni-puncture experience required Laboratory experience recommended but not required
License/Certification:
