Core Blood Bank Location:
Chapel Hill, NC Quality Staffing Specialists is currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician to work in the Core Blood Bank.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must have 2 years of Medical Laboratory Science/Technician experience working in the Core Blood Bank. Experience includes Type and Screen, Antibody Identification, DAT, Eluate, Phenotyping, and Antigen Typing. Product modifications such as syringe aliquots and irradiation. Protocol experience such as MTP and emergency release.
Job Summary:
Demonstrates advanced-level competencies in producing accurate laboratory test results, including all levels of CLIA-outlined testing and problem-solving. Maintains and investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow. Demonstrates laboratory knowledge and skills while working independently. Evaluates laboratory testing requests for appropriateness and applies critical decision-making skills to determine diagnostic testing needs. Participates on teams and/or performs special projects and assignments. Serves as a technical resource. Performs quality control, proficiency testing, and monitors accuracy and precision of laboratory testing. Prepares reagents and assists in the preparation of standard and control materials. Monitors reagent levels and assists in maintaining supplies. Participates in teaching various types of learners and training new employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Nights:
9:00 pm-7:00 am (Sunday-Wednesday), 4x10 hour shifts
Nights:
9:00 pm-7:00 am (Friday-Monday), 4x10 hour shifts
Education Requirements:
Must have one of the following: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science Associate's Degree in
Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology Licensure/Certification Requirements:
If Associate's Degree in Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Technician, Chemical Science or Biological Science
  • MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification required If Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science
  • ASCP categorical certification in specialty area. If Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Science
  • MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification required.
Pay Details:
$26.00/hour
  • $45.00/hour
  • Base rate is calculated by years of experience and internal equity
Shift Differentials:
Nights (11 pm
  • 7 am) + 3.60/hour Weekends (7 am Saturday
  • 7 am Monday) + $2.
40/hour
Commitment Incentive:
  • Up to $10,000
  • for a 4-year commitment.
Total of 4 payments every 6 months for 2 years. Relocation Incentive available as well.
