Laboratory Support Technician Position Summary A Laboratory Support Technician will be responsible for the identification, collection, and transport of blood for patients of all ages. This associate will also have a wide range of clerical duties and must be responsible for the performance of waived testing procedures. Laboratory Support Technician Position Requirements Education High school diploma or GED Must be able to provide proof of attendance and successful completion of a phlebotomy course through a Nationally Accredited program Possess a certification through a nationally approved accrediting agency or obtain it within one year of employment Required License/Certification Experience Previous laboratory experience preferred. Laboratory Support Technician Schedule The Laboratory is staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day. Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or may have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening and night shifts. Both options may include weekends. Rotational coverage of holidays. Expected to work overtime and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload. Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
