A Sleep Laboratory Technician, also known as a polysomnographic technician, performs tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. Responsible for giving patients explanations of the impending sleep tests and procedures, preparing equipment for the procedures, recording activities and analyzing results - all while working under the advisement of a clinical director and/or sleep technologist.

Qualifications:
Required:
Certified Registered or Licensed Respiratory Therapist or Registered Polysomnographic Technician BLS through the American Heart Association One to three years previous patient care or health-related experience
Scheduling Requirements:
Full-Time Night Shift Essential Functions:
P erforms standard and complex polysomnographic recordings and monitors physiological phenomena throughout such procedures. Administers oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure and employs ventilatory assist devices in accordance with established protocols. Special procedures such as multiple sleep latency testing are also performed. Ensures cleanliness, appearance and safety of physical plant and reports issues with the appropriate department as well as supervisor. Ensures proper functioning of equipment. Provides routine cleaning of equipment after each use. Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies. Scores polysomnogram/MSLT accurately; provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation. Maintains records, reports, log books as required. Performs other duties of the department as assigned.
