Perform test methods and procedures with little to no supervision. Prepare formulations, run lab and process development experiments in a batch mixer in development labs. Perform basic chemical, physical, and performance tests in various technology areas.
Test new and existing product formulas according to standard test protocols, such as ASTM and other industry standards. Perform all the mechanical testing to support product development.
Must be able to lift bags and buckets of materials as a part of routine lab work. Perform technology demonstrations and/or field evaluations with limited guidance. Document experiments and results in Laboratory notebooks with full traceability. Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk. QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Associate/Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science field is preferred.
Must have knowledge of common laboratory concepts, practices, and proceduresMinimum 3 years of experience with materials testing and coatings in a lab environment. Experience related to cementitious products is a plus.
Willing to learn from scientists and senior teammates on lab work and product evaluation. Also, work with team members supporting development projects and other tasks as assigned.
Must be able to follow standard test protocols, such as ASTM and other industry standards. Highly safety-oriented.
Willing and able to help maintain labs, chemicals, and storage areas in good order.
Able to lift bags and pails of materials as a part of routine lab work.
Able to travel to plants in the U.S. for trials and troubleshooting when requested.

Job DescriptionThe primary function of a Technician is to provide necessary technical support to the development and maintenance of advanced chemical formulations for self-level underlayment (SLU) in new construction, preservation, repair, or renovation of structures.
