Duties Conduct clinical chemistry testing, microbiology testing, hematology, blood banking, and immunoassays with precision and adherence to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations. Perform specimen collection and processing including venipuncture, blood sampling, and maintaining strict aseptic techniques to ensure sample integrity. Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment such as PCR machines, flow cytometers, ELISA readers, and other diagnostic instruments. Manage laboratory data effectively using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIS) and ensure accurate documentation of test results. Implement laboratory quality control protocols to uphold high standards of accuracy and reliability in all tests performed. Interpret diagnostic test results such as PCR data, RNA extraction outcomes, DNA isolation procedures, and other molecular biology assays. Collaborate with clinical staff on specimen handling, physiology knowledge application, and the interpretation of laboratory findings for clinical trials or research projects. Maintain compliance with CLIA regulations and hospital policies while ensuring safety standards are met through proper specimen processing and laboratory procedures. Assist in laboratory management tasks including inventory control of reagents and supplies, calibration of equipment, and maintaining a clean working environment. Qualifications Proven experience in medical laboratory work including clinical chemistry testing, microbiology testing, hematology, blood banking, or related fields. Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), ELISA (Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay), flow cytometry, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and immunoassays. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIS) or Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry and analysis. Experience with specimen collection procedures including venipuncture (phlebotomy), blood sampling, and specimen processing in accordance with aseptic techniques. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and laboratory procedures relevant to clinical diagnostics. Ability to operate medical laboratory equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to quality control standards. Knowledge of CLIA regulations governing laboratory operations along with experience implementing quality control protocols. Strong data management skills coupled with the ability to analyze complex datasets for research or diagnostic purposes. Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams on test interpretation and patient care needs. Hospital or research laboratory experience is preferred; certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is highly desirable.
