Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities Assist with laboratory management tasks, including specimen collection, processing, and biological sample handling Perform laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, spinal taps, and catheterization procedures under supervision Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations to ensure sample integrity and safety Support research laboratory activities by preparing materials, recording data accurately, and managing laboratory information systems (LIS) Ensure proper documentation of laboratory procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality and following clinical confidentiality policies Manage laboratory supplies and biological samples efficiently, ensuring proper storage and disposal according to safety standards Communicate effectively with medical staff and clients regarding specimen collection processes and laboratory procedures Requirements Proven experience in a medical or research laboratory setting, including hands-on laboratory techniques such as phlebotomy and specimen processing Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical procedures relevant to laboratory work Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIS) and data entry protocols Ability to perform venipuncture confidently; additional skills in spinal taps or pediatric sample collection are a plus Strong understanding of CLIA regulations, hospital procedures, and patient privacy standards Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service and professionalism Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire is preferred Previous experience working in hospital or veterinary laboratories is advantageous Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to advancing healthcare through precise laboratory support.
