Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, makes observations, and calculates and records results; receives, types, tests, and records blood bank inventories.

Job Description

Part Time (32 hours/pay period) Days General Summary Serves primarily as a lead technician, performing routine and specialized technical and some general support duties in specimen processing, send out testing, blood resources, anatomic pathology, and/or a technical section. Functions in on- and/or off-site service areas. May work any part of a 24-hour period. Routinely obtains and disseminates information. May be required to accept on-call responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for daily operations of assigned area. Assists in training, orienting, and evaluating staff. May document competency of employees and provide feedback to appropriate managers and/or supervisors regarding progress. Performs routine and/or specialized testing and procedures with supervision as appropriate. Performs a variety of duties at progressively greater skill levels under varying degrees of supervision, records results. May operate a variety of laboratory instruments. Interacts with vendors and customers to receive or disseminate information, as necessary Develops and reviews procedures in accordance with established laboratory practice. Enters or retrieves data from established computer files. Required for

Qualifications Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience:
2 years Relevant experience.
Required Courses and Training:
Medical Terminology.
Upon Hire Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication and computer skills. Performs component preparation and platelet apheresis. Excellent interpersonal skills
