Job Title:
Travel Medical Lab Technician Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and techniques, with a commitment to providing accurate and timely diagnostic support. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in collecting, processing, and analyzing specimens to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities of Medical Lab Technician:
Shift:
8- hours Evenings Shift details: 2.00 PM to 10.30 PM 40 hours/week. (5
  • 8) 13-week contract Perform laboratory procedures including specimen collection, processing, and analysis with accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
Utilize laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, blood sampling, and aseptic methods to ensure specimen integrity. Maintain detailed and accurate data entry within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Assist in patient service activities by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort during specimen collection, and maintaining patient care standards. Follow proper specimen handling protocols for various tests, including blood samples, urine, and other bodily fluids. Support laboratory quality control measures by adhering to established standards for physiology knowledge, anatomy, and clinical laboratory practices. Demonstrate proficiency in hospital-based laboratory work environments, including understanding of vital signs and basic life support (BLS) or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Handle heavy lifting of supplies or specimens when necessary while maintaining safety standards. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of test results for pediatrics, geriatrics, and other patient populations. Requirements Proven experience in medical laboratory work with a solid understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques. Certification or training in basic life support (BLS) and CPR is required. Prior experience working within hospital or clinical laboratories is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to laboratory testing. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation accuracy. Hands-on experience with specimen collection methods such as venipuncture and phlebotomy specimen handling. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary while maintaining safety protocols. Familiarity with pediatric and geriatric patient care considerations is advantageous.
