Job Duties:
Prepare, set up, perform, and interpret simple and complex laboratory assays according to standard operating procedures. Troubleshoot instrument and assay challenges. Develop new testing modalities and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Help with sample tracking. Participate in research activities. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to training others, performing administrative tasks, and providing assistance to internal and external clients. Work is performed under moderate supervision when fully trained with limited latitude for independent judgement and action in well-defined areas of work.
Schedule and Workplace:
Working hours are generally Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts are routinely required. Incumbent will primarily work in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory. This is a bio-secure facility. Work outside of the laboratory may also be required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency with at least 16 hours of combined college level biology, chemistry/biochemistry, and/or physics. Minimum of 1 years' laboratory experience. Ability to lift 20 lbs. Ability to conform with OSHA regulations and laboratory policies regarding the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to safely work in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) lab with zoonotic pathogens using aseptic techniques. Microsoft Office experience with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Effective communication, both verbal and written. Reliable transportation to and from work. Eligibility to work in the United States 3 professional references
Preferred Experience:
College degree in a related field. Experience working with cattle. 3+ years' laboratory experience in clinic, hospital, veterinarian office, or reference lab. MT/MLT/CLS, ASCP, and/or ASVCP certifications. Work experience in a molecular pathology, microbiology, hematology, and/or clinical chemistry laboratory. Operation of biomedical laboratory instrumentation. Use of a LIS, LIMS, or similar clinical laboratory data management system under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) and/or Standard Precaution guidelines. This Job is Ideal for
