Job Description
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, a Laboratory Technician is responsible to perform a variety of laboratory functions, including the running of tests, completion of reports and records and maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory. Job Specific Duties 1. Conducts and assists in the following testing completed within the laboratory as directed by the laboratory manager, including: a. Preparation and completion of microbiological samples and test b. Preparation and completion of chemistry samples and tests c. Blood tests for sulfa and antibiotics d. Preparation on tests to detect pesticides in fat samples e. Preparation of E. Coli tests f. Preparation and use of the PCR equipment g. Preparation and run of Feed related tests 2. Responsible for reporting analysis and creating records in establish laboratory record books 3. Cleans and sterilizes the laboratory and equipment in conjunction with laboratory employees 4. Performs other duties as assigned Experience Requirements 1. Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment 2. Demonstrated ability to learn and seek continual improvement. 3. Self-motivated; ability to function without continuous supervision. 4. Ability to lift and properly move at least 50 lbs. 5. Ability to exercise good judgment. 6. Ability to work safely and report safety hazards. 7. Skilled record keeper, ability to produce and maintain accurate paperwork 8. Demonstrated mathematical and writing skills 9. Demonstrated capability in a quality assurance environment 10. Must know and understand quality assurance procedures 11. Prior experience working in a laboratory environment preferred Education & Qualification Requirements 1. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach.
