A Medical Laboratory Technician helps with the performance of laboratory tests in toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology laboratories, which provide information for medical patient diagnosis and treatment. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, makes observations, and calculates and records results; receives, types, tests, and records blood bank inventories.

Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to perform biological or chemical tests on specimens brought to the laboratory, perform phlebotomy, and to report results accurately. Position will be staffed during clinic hours. We offer competitive pay and a great environment!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs microbiology, phlebotomy and procedures ordered by the providers. Processes specimens via computer in a timely fashion and keeps up to date on current charge procedures. Performs Quality Control checks per policies. Accurately reports test results to appropriate areas. Assists with routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of equipment and supplies. Preferable experience in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, virology, and urinalysis. Performs Wisconsin State Proficiency testing as required and abides by OSHA and CLIA laws. Adheres to the philosophy and provides comprehensive care according to a patient centered healthcare clinic.

EDUCATION
Minimum:
Medical Laboratory Technician Must be ASCP or NCA certified / eligible
EXPERIENCE
Desired:
Experience in a health care setting.
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with laboratory operations, equipment and reporting of laboratory results. Good organizational skills. Knowledge of clinic computer systems including Lab Information System. Ability to adapt to a team-oriented environment and maintain a professional and positive attitude. Working knowledge of PC, Windows & Microsoft Office.
