GLC Government Services is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support a government contract at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Satellite Prison Camp (SCP) in Herlong, California, serving an incarcerated population.

Federal Correctional Institution and Satellite Prison Camp, Herlong, CA, Health Services Department.

Pay:

$35.37/hour

Hours:

Monday-Friday, normally between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The position requires eight one-hour sessions per day and will not normally exceed 40 hours per week. Hours may be adjusted based on institutional needs.

Requirements:

Must have graduated from an accredited vocational nursing school or program. Must maintain a current Vocational Nurse license in California or Nevada. At least one year of correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required. Must work within the scope of current licensure, training, experience, and applicable nursing laws.

Job Duties:

Provides direct patient care and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff. Administers medications by oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular routes. Assists with medication distribution at pill line and monitors patient response to therapy. Performs skin testing and venipuncture for laboratory specimens. Documents patient-care activities, health histories, diagnostic testing, and treatment information in the medical record. Performs diagnostic testing, including visual-acuity testing and EKGs, as directed by Mid-Level Practitioners or Physicians. Processes and files laboratory work daily; reviews test results for normal or abnormal values and notifies the appropriate Physician. Maintains accurate logs and reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and Joint Commission policies. Secures, accounts for, stores, and disposes of sharps according to institutional and national policy. Assists Mid-Level Practitioners and Physicians with chronic-care clinics, including care for hypertension, diabetes, and asthma. Reviews clinical records for complete, legible, and appropriately documented information. Initiates emergency care as needed according to community standards. Maintains patient privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with infection-control policies. Operates EKG and laboratory equipment. Screens for significant mood changes and demonstrates knowledge of mental health disorders. Provides basic first aid, preventive care, and guidance for common illnesses and injuries. Interested?
