Overview We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve in correctional healthcare settings. Responsibilities Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Provide emergency care and triage for acute conditions, utilizing skills in airway management, first aid, and basic life support (BLS). Manage wound care, catheterizations, tube feeding, and other specialized procedures with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or infectious diseases. Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies while documenting medical records accurately. Assist in discharge planning and coordinate with community health providers for continuity of care post-release or transfer. Qualifications Valid LPN license with current state certification required; additional certifications such as BLS/CPR are essential. Demonstrated experience in correctional healthcare settings or similar environments is preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient management. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to diverse patient populations. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory-related conditions is highly desirable. Ability to perform complex procedures including venipuncture, catheter care, sterile processing, and specimen collection. Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams under demanding circumstances.
