Requirements:
Valid, active LPN state license BLS certification Core responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs. Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments accurately, following protocols.
Manage wounds/incisions:
evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection/complications. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition. Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medications. Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care. Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids; ensure IV line integrity.
Provide catheter care:
insertion (where permitted), maintenance, and monitoring. Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing. Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care. Address patient comfort, mobility assistance, positioning, and pain management. Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support as needed. Follow infection control procedures and proper use of PPE. Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies per regulations. Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments. Advocate for patient rights and needs. May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned. Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
