Purpose of Job This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including: assisting the providers and performing a variety of diagnostic Lab and X-ray procedures according to established policies and procedures. Job Functions When performing nursing support functions Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMRAdministers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensurePrepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patientsPerforms room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of dayAssists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessaryAssists with patient educationPerforms other duties as assigned When performing Lab and/or X-ray functions Maintains stocked supplies and inventorySterilizes instruments, exam rooms and equipmentPerforms testing procedures as requiredPrepares procedure room/area and instructs patientsTroubleshoots and maintains equipmentCompletes daily QA/QC procedures and provides maintenance/adjustments to equipmentPerforms other duties as assigned Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical NursingGraduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competenciesCurrent LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs/MAs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)Current CPR certification Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities Ability to multi-taskAbility to serve patients in a friendly and efficient mannerKnowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work autonomously and as a teamCapable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Knowledge/Skills/Abilities when performing X-ray functions Knowledge of x-ray safety for patients and personnelKnowledge of proper patient positioning and state radiology regulationsSkill in performing quality control and maintaining recordsAbility to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems Knowledge/Skills/Abilities when performing Lab functions Ability to troubleshoot problems with lab testing, equipment, patient samples, and kitsSkill in performing quality control and maintaining recordsAbility to troubleshoot equipment and technique problems Preferred Qualifications EMR experienceX-Ray Operator License (grandfathered prior to 2007) or completion of AART limited scope Operator examination per Minnesota Department of HealthPrevious lab experience Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
