POSITION SUMMARY
Provide & assist in direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse (RN) as prescribed by the physician & the treatment team. Provide medical management and re-assessment of patients. Assist RN with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Supervise MHTs as directed by RN. Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
Experience:
- One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current North Carolina State Licensed Practical Nurse License
- Current North Carolina Driver's License
- CPR Certification
CPI Certification Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Accurate administration of medication & treatments.
- Monitor & record response & side-effects to medication & treatments.
- Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Ability to assist with educating patients & families in medication & care management.
- Ability to write clearly, legibly, accurately, & concisely in patient charts.
- Skill in maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
- Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
