MOHS SURGERY NURSE

(LPN/RN)

JOB PURPOSE

To provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing Mohs surgery and other dermatologic surgical procedures; working closely with the Mohs surgeon and medical team, ensuring exceptional patient care before, during and after surgery.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Prepare patients for Mohs surgery by reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and other pertinent clinical information 2. Educate patients regarding surgical procedures, expectations, wound care, medication, and post-operative instructions 3. Obtain and record vital signs and other important patient information 4. Monitor patients before, during, and after the procedure, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition 5. Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, medication and equipment 6. Prepare procedure rooms and maintain sterile surgical technique 7. Administer local anesthesia to the surgical site prior to cases, ensuring accurate dosage and proper technique under surgeon supervision 8. Assist Mohs surgeon during surgical procedures and anticipate surgeon needs to promote efficient surgical flow and patient care 9. Administer medications and treatments as permitted by licensure and surgeon orders 10. Apply surgical dressings and assist with wound care and post-operative bandaging 11. Perform other duties as required or assigned

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS AND QUALITIES

The Mohs Surgery Nurse needs to have a strong sense of teamwork, showing compassion and respect for the patients and other staff members. Attention to detail and excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also required to ensure our commitment to the positive outcomes of all patients. Current New York State RN or LPN license required. 2+ years of experience in dermatology, surgical, or procedural nursing preferred.

HOURS OF WORK AND WORK REQUIREMENTS

This is a part-time position, requiring 24 to 32 hours a week. Shifts are typically 8 hours a day, 3 to 4 days a week. HIPAA and bloodborne pathogen training and certification are offered on site. Mohs Surgery Nurses are not typically required, if ever, to lift any materials greater than 20 pounds.

Pay:

From $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 32.0 per week
