Brief Description of Duties:

The incumbent should be highly experienced and knowledgeable in the field of medical specialty requirements and perform highly complex functions under the general supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or health professional. Incumbents will receive written or oral instructions as to priorities, scheduling, or technical requirements and are expected to carry out assignments under general supervision, consulting with the licensed medical practitioner or health professional. Incumbents should possess cultural competence in providing care to LGBTQ+ patients and people living with

HIV/AIDS

(PLWHA). Demonstrated working knowledge of many procedures under a variety of work conditions, including strict deadlines or emergencies. This is a part-time position for 20 hours/week.

Duties:

Patient Assessment:

assess patients' medical history, current symptoms, and potential risk factors for STIs.

STI Testing:

collect samples (e.g., blood, urine, swabs) for STI testing and ensure that these samples are properly labeled and sent to the lab for analysis.

Medication Administration:

administer medications, including intramuscular antibiotics.

Follow-Up Care:

communicate with patients about results of testing. E5%

Patient Education:

Educate patients about their specific STI diagnosis, transmission, and prevention.

Documentation:

document patient information, test results and treatments properly.

Collaboration:

work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and case managers, to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.

Cultural Competence:

being culturally sensitive and nonjudgmental is crucial when working with a diverse population, as these fosters open communication and trust.
