JOB OVERVIEW
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs technical direct and indirect nursing care in a correctional facility medical clinic for individuals under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist.
The role includes taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, along with performing various technical nursing tasks to provide healthcare to patients and others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform nursing procedures and specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure. Participate in evaluating patient responses to nursing interventions. Assist in assessing, reporting, and recording the health status of patients in a variety of settings. Participate in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of patient care plans. Administer medications as ordered. Report appropriate patient information to the supervisor or appropriate healthcare team member. Provide nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, knowledge, skills, and licensure. Level II LPNs may provide guidance and training to others performing routine nursing tasks and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Level I:
Must possess a valid permanent Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; OR Possess an LPN license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Level II:
Must possess a valid permanent Oklahoma LPN license approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus one year of practical nursing experience; OR Possess an LPN license recognized by the eNLC plus one year of practical nursing experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
All healthcare staff must complete the required ODOC online training before reporting to the facility. ODOC online training consists of 16 modules. Training time is not billable to ODOC. Documentation of completed training must be provided to the facility Nurse Manager before assignment. Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill job-related travel when required. Applicants must be willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week.
