Expert-Level LPN Opportunity The successful Correctional LPN will be recognized as an experienced nursing professional who can perform assigned duties independently, provide guidance, troubleshoot clinical concerns, and answer questions within the practical-nursing scope of practice. Key LPN Responsibilities Provide practical nursing care and treatment to inmates and detainees. Administer and document medications and treatments according to provider orders. Implement nursing care plans and promptly report changes in patients' physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions. Measure and document vital signs, collect specimens, and maintain accurate electronic medical records. Respond appropriately to routine clinical needs and medical emergencies. Follow all nursing, infection-control, safety, confidentiality, and correctional-security requirements. Core Nursing Competencies Medication administration, dose calculations, IV therapy, and clinical treatments Patient assessment, vital-sign monitoring, and specimen collection CPR, first aid, oxygen administration, and emergency response Wound care, catheter care, infection control, and sterile technique Enteral nutrition, neurological checks, ostomy care, and safe patient handling Minimum Qualifications Current Pennsylvania Licensed Practical Nurse license. Ability to enter and maintain patient information in an electronic medical records system. Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office. Strong clinical observation, communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment within the LPN scope of practice. Ability to work safely and professionally in a secure correctional environment.
