DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on delivering nursing care, supporting daily health needs, and assisting clinical staff within the facility. The role ensures that medical services are carried out safely, accurately, and in accordance with standards. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
Nursing Care:
Implement care plans by taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing treatments
Health Monitoring:
Observe physical and emotional behaviors and report concerns to clinical staff
Emergency Response:
Provide first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), or automated external defibrillator (AED) support when urgent medical conditions arise
Record Maintenance:
Document medication administration, treatments, and health information in electronic records
Supply Management:
Sterilize instruments and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment
Team Communication:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week The Department of Corrections is staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs. Work hours are to be determined This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania. If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements. This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding. You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
