Job Description:
Dispensing Nurse-LPN Purpose:
The Dispensing Nurse-LPN is responsible for providing direct medical care of patients enrolled in Narcotic Maintenance Treatment by dispensing of medication as prescribed by the Medical Director or Program Physician and to perform other nursing related duties as needed. Job Functions:
  • Prepares and accurately administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician.
  • Keeps accurate records of all medications received into the clinic and medications dispensed to patients.
  • Accurately documents in patients records: medication administered and medical or behavioral patient progress/issues.
  • Objectively assesses patients for the effect(s) of opioid maintenance therapy, impairment, and opioid withdrawal.
  • Ensures the safe keeping of all controlled substances on site in accordance with DEA, FDA and other Federal and State regulations and CARF guidelines.
  • Is responsible for the collection of urine drug screens, testing urine samples and recording and/or verifying the results of urine drug screens as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician
  • Participates in the admission of new patients as needed by collecting an accurate medical history, administering and reading tuberculosis skin tests
  • Is responsible for the protection of the rights and confidentiality of all patients that are served. Will ensure that all patients are treated with respect, dignity and free from any discrimination.
  • Works with other nursing staff to ensure a clean and safe medication room
  • Performs other duties as assigned Education/Licensure/Experience
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Must be licensed in the state of Wisconsin as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • 2 years nursing experience in an outpatient setting preferred Job Requirements
  • Working knowledge and understanding of addiction treatment including Narcotic Maintenance Treatment and behavioral medicine.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of groups of people with respect and courtesy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25Lbs. and an ability to move throughout the clinic premises
  • Ability to change positions from sitting to standing multiple times throughout the day without pain or difficulty.

  • PRN, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Minimum Requirement:
At least 3 shifts per month

Flexible, with priority coverage needed on
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Shift Hours:
Monday-Friday:
4:30 AM
  • 1:00
PM Saturday & Sunday:
5:30 AM
  • 9:30 AM Minimum of 3 shifts per month: Candidates must have weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday) in addition to availability on either
Friday or Monday Holidays:
Rotating; holiday shift hours are 5:30 AM
