POSITION SUMMARY
Provides attentive administrative support to the clinical staff. Serves as medical interpreter for patients and staff and supports the operations of the health center.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Ensure the safe, productive, and efficient operation of the clinic assigned through timely and attentive administration and clinical support. 2. Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another. 3. Explain health center resources, office protocols, and limitations to clinical staff and patients. Serve as a cultural and linguistic resource to both patients and providers to contribute to successful healthcare outcomes. 4. Assist office operations be answering phones, maintaining the Spanish phone line and voicemail, calling patients to confirm appointments, and verify and schedule further appointments when necessary. 5. Provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as filling out forms and medical instructions, and medication schedules; administrative translations such as letters to patients, flyers, documents, and patient materials. 6. Provide information in a manner that is culturally and safely appropriate to the needs of the patient being served. 7. Provide services in the strictest of confidence and abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). 8. Comply with all state and federal privacy, security and conflict of interest standards.

- Excellent command of English and Spanish language (spelling, punctuation, grammar).

- Ability to handle program/client information in a confidential manner.

- Ability to be flexible in hours of work: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, however, some evening, weekend hours and some travel may be required on occasion.

- Ability to keep agency records confidential and secure.
- Ability to effectively and accurately implement lessons learned from formal training.
- Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
- Prepares patient's chart prior to clinical exam.
- Prepares patient for clinical exam/visit, including the collection of typical patient vital metrics (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, etc.)
- Assists provider with clinical visit.
- Follows through with post-visit duties.
- Assists with office duties as assigned.
- Adherence to risk management and quality programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to speak read, write, and understand English.
- Medical Terminology Certification preferred, but not required. Professional
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Demonstrated success in communication, customer service or working with the public, preferably in a medical care facility. Physical/Environmental
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours.
- Ability to communicate via phone, mail, in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc.
- Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment.
