Job Description
Job Overview Our family practice is looking for a dependable, professional, and detail oriented Front Office team member with Medical Assistant certification to join our team. This position will work primarily in the front office, handling patient check-in, scheduling, phones, insurance related tasks, and other administrative responsibilities. The employee will also assist in the back office as needed, including providing clinical support to our providers and Medical Assistant team. We are looking for a compassionate, organized, flexible, and energetic individual who is comfortable working in a medical office and is willing to step in and help wherever needed. Certified Medical Assistant certification is required. Front Office - Primary Responsibilities Greet patients and provide friendly, professional customer service Check patients in and out and maintain efficient patient flow Answer incoming telephone calls with a friendly and caring attitude Schedule and manage patient appointments Prepare and maintain patient charts Make appointment reminder calls Collect patient payments Scan and upload documents into the electronic medical record Obtain prior authorizations as needed Distribute and process incoming and outgoing faxes Answer, document, and distribute patient messages Assist with billing and coding-related tasks Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient rights Maintain cleanliness and organization of the waiting room and front office Assist with other front office duties as needed Back Office - As Needed Prepare examination rooms for patient visits and procedures Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, and pulse Review and update medication lists Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments Administer immunizations and injections as directed by the physician Enter accurate patient information into the electronic health record Process orders for laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and medications as ordered by the provider Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment Assist other Medical Assistants with their duties as needed Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program Certified Medical Assistant certification required Previous experience in a medical office strongly preferred Strong computer skills; EPIC experience is a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills Professional and compassionate patient-service skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent attention to detail Ability to take initiative and learn quickly Ability to work well as part of a healthcare team Dependable, reliable, and punctual with excellent attendance Comfortable working primarily in the front office and assisting in the back office when needed Professionalism when communicating with patients, coworkers, and providers Strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program Current Medical Assistant certification Bilingual preferred but not required EPIC experience preferred but not required Starting salary based on experience Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with patients, provides excellent customer service, and can confidently manage front-office responsibilities. While the position is primarily front desk, the candidate should also be comfortable performing Medical Assistant duties and stepping into the back office when coverage or additional support is needed. We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term member of our team and is willing to work together with our staff to keep the office running smoothly. Hours Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and Fridays 7:30 am to 1:30 pm.
