The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Greet patients over the phone and in person. Front desk reception, Answers phones and schedules appointments, back office support Greet patients, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions Files and maintains medical and financial records Prepares and type correspondence Processes and completes insurance referrals Performs computer skills in patient transcription, scheduling, and data base entry Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct Measure and record vital signs Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint Provides patient education with regards to medications, special diets Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests Assists physician with exams Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens Performs basic lab tests Performs EKGs Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures Use CPR skills when necessary Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment Follows facility and our Protocol Vaccinations for children Phentermine program Immigration physicals for green cards Provide patient lab/imaging results when normal and approved by supervising physician Respects cultural and religious practices of patients Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts Performs other related work as requested and approved by the supervising physician, site medical director or clinic manager. The duties of Medical Assistant vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location, and type. In addition to administrative duties, Medical Assistants perform clinical duties in accordance to state law. Based on business needs, you will be required to travel to our other medical clinics. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities) High School Diploma, GED, or related education/experience 1-2 years of Medical experience preferred Enthusiastic with excellent customer service skills Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge Uphold standards and regulations set by HIPAA Required to travel to our different locations Federal-, State- and GHR-required credentials current and on file Able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
