Duties Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting vital signs, medical history, and current medications using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Prepare examination rooms and assist during medical procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and instruments are ready. Perform phlebotomy and medication administration under supervision, adhering to safety protocols and pharmacology guidelines. Manage medical documentation accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EMR), including ICD coding and detailed medical records management. Support patient service activities such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and providing clear instructions for follow-up care. Conduct basic physiology assessments and assist with medical-surgical procedures in inpatient or outpatient settings. Maintain compliance with infection control standards, including sterilization of equipment and proper disposal of biohazard materials. Support hospital medicine units or emergency departments with specialized tasks like vital signs monitoring or trauma center procedures when required. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office environment with a strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy knowledge. Hands-on experience in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine settings is highly preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems and ICD coding processes. Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or OR experience in surgical settings is a plus. Knowledge of pharmacology principles relevant to outpatient and inpatient care environments. Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations and handle sensitive situations professionally.
